Max Steele

RS Tera (Pro) & Feva

Max learned to sail in an Optimist at the age of 8 during a summer camp in Sopot, Poland. He repeated this over the next summer and came 5th in the Tri-City regatta (Optimist Cup) in Sopot, North Poland.

When he returned to the UK, he discovered the RS Tera at his local club in London. His first club races resulted in wins, and after further practice and training he achieved a 5th place result at the start of seasons 2017. Due to this and other successes, he was selected into the UK RS Tera Sport Squad, where he progressed on his knowledge and consistency and steadily climbed the UK national rankings.

In December 2017 he was awarded an RYA Performance Bursary. Max has enjoyed an exceptionally successful year in 2018, which included winning the UK Inland National Championships, the Swedish Nationals, the EuroCup and 4th at the World Championships, as well as three regional regattas.

At the end of the season, he has progressed into the RS Tera Pro fleet. His first regatta was the End of Season Nationals, which he won. Thirsty for more, he has been re-selected into the RS Tera Pro National Squad, has had his RYA Performance Bursary renewed, while he also starts his journey with double handed boats.
