Harry West is another Team Member who has years of competitive sailing behind him at a young age. He was bitten by the sailing bug after sailing Oppies at his local sailing club, Salterns, at just 4 years old. He took to sailing quickly, and won his first competition aged 8, a week-long junior regatta.
From there, his competitive sailing took off. He transitioned to the RS Tera class and entered both local and national competitions, posting strong results. He won gold in the RYA Zonals 2017 and 2018, was Southern Tera Champion in both 2018 and 2019. His success didn’t go unnoticed, and he was awarded a place in the National Tera Squad 2019/2020.
In his RS Feva, Harry has also enjoyed many notable results; he was National IAPS under 11s Champion 2019 and Independent Schools Inlands under-13s Champion. He continues to represent his school at a national level.
In 2020, Harry aims to increase his placing at the Tera Nationals and become National Champion in his Feva at the IAPS Under-13 category. He’s hungry to keep progressing in the RS Feva and will attend as many Open/Grand Prix events as possible with his crew. Harry’s drive to win makes him a perfect match for NeilPryde Sailing’s Team Riders.
