Emma Breese learned to sail at 7 years old, on a small lake in Lymington with her Father. Finding a natural affinity for the sport, she began competing only a year later at the Regatta Fleet Optimist event in Papercourt. She placed 5th.
From there, her sailing has gone from strength to strength. By age 9, she had transitioned into main fleet, and was selected for the RYA Optimist Zone Squad. Her talent and drive soon earned her a place on the 8 Days A Week GBR Potential team, where she excelled. Her hard work paid off, and in the summer of 2019, Emma achieved her goal of becoming British Junior National Champion.
Continued strong results have earned her a no. 17 spot in the UK rankings, and amongst the girls, she currently ranks 3rd. This qualified her for the 2019/2020 RYA National Squad.
Further highlights from her 2019-2020 season include the Optispring event in Holland, where she placed 4th, and 1st British junior. She went on to represent Great Britain at the Irish Nationals.
2020 will hold more fierce competition on the international stage, including the Pre-Worlds event at Lake Garda. Emma is working towards representing Britain once more in the Optimist European Championship and finish in the top 10. Neil Pryde are proud to support her as she continues to build on her success.
‘I´m really excited to have been selected as a 2020 Neilpryde Team rider, all of the sailing kit is super comfortable and warm, and the boat covers and bags are amazing. I can’t wait to represent Neilpryde in optimist events around the UK and Europe during this coming year.’
