Aled LLewellyn-Jones

Aled Llewellyn-Jones is a 29er Dinghy sailor from Carmarthen, West Wales. He has recently transitioned into the 29er class forming a partnership with fellow Team Rider, Ben Willett.

Coming from a non sailing background, Aled joined Saundersfoot Sailing Club where he learnt to sail in an Optimist dinghy at the age of 8. He soon sailed competitively at a local level before starting to compete nationally in 2014.
Following a promising first season in his Optimist and with a desire to sail a faster boat, he made an early transition into a Topper. He steadily climbed the National rankings culminating in winning the 2017/18 Welsh Zone Championships and the 2017/18 ITCA National Topper series.

Aled transitioned into 29ers in the summer of 2018 and, with his partner Ben, has already enjoyed some early success and secured a number of top 10 finishes in a recent Grand Prix and Inland Championships earning the pair selection to the Welsh National Youth 29er Squad.

Aled is focussing on building on his early successes in his new class and developing the necessary skills required of a racing skiff sailor performing at the very highest level.

Apart from his passion for sailing Aled’s hobbies include skiing and music.
