World Sailing Youth World Championships in Corpus Christi, Texas.
It’s been a pretty busy summer this year for me. I began my summer with the World Sailing Youth World Championships in Corpus Christi, Texas.
It was an incredible atmosphere as only one girl and boy from each boat and country could go. It was so much fun having all the different boats there and seeing so many friends from other countries and other boats that I hadn’t seen since Oppies!!
The weather in Texas was extremely hot but I definitely enjoyed being in the sun. All week we had a solid 15+kts which meant it was a speed and fitness race all week! I managed to finish 5th overall which I was extremely happy with and it is an experience I will never forget.
Coaching at the Nationals
Before my next big event I stopped by the nationals in Plymouth and was a ‘coach’ for a few days. It was really interesting watching racing from another perspective and again it was such a fun week with everyone!
U19 Radial Worlds in Kiel, Germany
Soon after Plymouth I was heading to the U19 Radial Worlds in Kiel, Germany. The weather was all over the place so it was a long and tricky week especially when I got a BFD in the first race and we only had one discard!! But, I couldn’t be happier to end it with a Silver Medal!
This summer has been a great one and it’s really reflected on how much time and effort I’ve put into my sailing this past year.
Looking ahead to 2019
Next year will be interesting balancing sailing and A Levels but I still couldn’t be more excited for the year of training ahead!
Thank you so much to NeilPryde for providing me with the best sailing kit out there all year round - I have fallen in love with the Elite Hook Vest Buoyancy Aid this summer, it gives me so much freedom to move around. I can’t wait to see what this next year has in store!!
