Lockdown Update: Eve Kennedy

2020, a year of doing not a lot. I started off the year training as part of the UK youth squad in the laser radial, where we flew out to Malta for some near perfect sailing conditions and warm weather in comparison to the storms and cold that where in England at the time. At the start of March 2020 I had the first 2 UKLA qualifier events in Weymouth. I finished 1st under 19 girl in the second one after being injured during the first event of the year. AND THEN COVID 19 HIT!

We went into lockdown and then one at a time all our events were cancelled. During lockdown I focused on fitness and getting my schoolwork done between cycling and watching movies of course. During this time I also took part in RYA online youth squad over zoom calls once a week, which was really useful to get my aims and goals for the year and my training plan sorted. Once lockdown restrictions where eased enough I joined Netley Sailing Club and was straight back on the water in my brand-new summer Neilpryde sailing kit. I have also returned to Parkstone Yacht club racing and am looking forward to the Laser Radial Nationals.
